On the basis of the principles of non-discrimination and reciprocity, the Contracting Parties undertake to recognize, protect and control names of wines originating in their territories. The Agreement consists of the following four Titles: (I) Reciprocal protection of wine names; (II) Controls and mutual assistance between competent authorities; (III) Management of the Agreement; (IV) General provisions. Article 5 specifies the names to be protected. Article 6 deals with trade marks. To ensure the effective compliance with this Agreement, each Contracting Party shall designate the competent authority which shall be resposnsible for its application.
