On 5 February 1997, it shall supersede the Agreements on fisheries relations between the Community and Latvia, signed on 5 May 1993.; On 5 February 1997, it shall supersede the Agreements on fisheries relations between the Community and Latvia, signed on 5 May 1993.; This Agreement shall enter into force on the date on which the Parties notify each other of the completion of the procedures necessary for this purpose. 6 February 1997.; This agreement establishes the rules and regulations, which will create the basis for relations between the European Communities and Latvia in the fisheries industry, and determine the direction in which their cooperation should be developed. Rules concern cooperati on in the field of development of fisheries, fisheries conservation and management, access of vessels of the other party, scientific research, and enforcement. In particular, the Parties will cooperate on a bilateral basis and through suitable international fisheries organisations, in particular the IBSFC, for that purpose.
