EIF on: This Memorandum shall enter into force one month following the date of the exchange of notes between the Parties informing the completion of their required national formalities for its entry into force. It shall remain in force for three years. Its validity shall be automatically extended for further three-year period unless denounced by either Party upon prior written notice.; The two Parties, being aware of the necessity to protect the environment in order to ensure the quality of life in both counties and recognising that environmental protecti on is an essential element of sustainable development, have agreed to develop scientific and technical co-operation in the field of the prevention of pollution and the protection of the environment within the principle of sustainable development. The following subjects are identified as possible areas for co-operation: energy production, desertification, combating marine pollution, exchange of information on environmental impact assessment, etc. Also, the Parties shall establish a ten members Jo int Committee which shall manage the activities under this Memorandum and agree on matters of future policy and receive submission of projects and other proposals for co-operation.; FAO Descriptors: 110; 209; 114; 712
