AMENDMENTS TO APPENDICES I AND II OF THE CONVENTION

Adopted at the fourth meeting of the Conference of the Parties, Gaborone, Botswana, 19 to 30 April 1983

Interpetatíon:

a. The abreviation "spp." is used to denote all species of a higher taxon

b. An asterisk (*) placed against the name of a taxon indicates that one or more populations, subspecies or species of that taxon are included in Appendix I and that these populations, subspecies or species are excluded from Appendix II.

c. Two asterisks (**) placed against the name of a taxon indicate that one or more populations, subspecies or species of that taxon are included in Appendix II and that these populations, subspecies or species are excluded from Appendix I.

5. Following the adoption of the amendments set out in items 1 to 4, the following species and other taxa are no longer listed as such on Appendix I or II of the Convention, since the entry into force of these amendments, some species and other taxa may, however, be included in either Appendix I or II under another taxon.

6. In accordance with the provisions of Article XV, paragraph 1, sub-paragraph (c), of the Convention, the amendments adopted at the fourth meeting of the Conference of the Parties entered into force 90 days after that meeting, i.e. on 29 July 1983, for all Parties except those which made a reservation before that date.

7. Following the adoption of .these amendments a revised edition of Appendices I and II was prepared by the Secretariat. This revised edition is reproduced on pages 1109 to 1147 of the present Proceedings.

8. Some of 'the adopted amendments concern species or other taxa which were listed on Appendix III of the Convention. A revised edition of this appendix was therefore prepared by the Secretariat. It is reproduced on pages 1148 to 1152 of the present Proceedings and also entered into force on 29 July 1983
