Agreement between Denmark, Norway, and Sweden on Modification of the Annex to the Agreement of 13th of September 1983 for Co-operation in Dealing with Pollution of the North Sea by Oil and Other Harmful Substances

Denmark, Norway and Sweden, in pursuance of their wish to conclude an agreement to modify the common boundaries of the zones described in the Annex to the Agreement of the 13th September 1983 between the Governments of the Kingdom of Belgium, the Kingdom of Denmark, the French Republic, the Federal Republic of Germany, the Kingdom of the Netherlands, the Kingdom of Norway, the Kingdom of Sweden, the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland and the European Economic Community, with reference to article 17, point 1 of the said Agreement and to article II of the Contracting Parties' decision of the 22nd of September 1989, have agreed as follows:

Article 1

In the Annex to the aforementioned Agreement, Description of the zones referred to in Article 6 of this Agreement, under Denmark, the four last points are modified to have the following wording:

"58015'41,2" N 10-01-48,1" E

58008'00,1" N 10-32-32,8" E

57049'00,6" N 11-02-55,6" E

57-44-43,0" N 11-07-04,0" E"

In the same Annex, under Norway, the 3 last points are deleted and replaced by the following four points

"58-15-41,2" N 10001*48,1" E (point A)

58*30'41,2" N 10008,46,9" E (point B)

58045'41,3" N 10035'40,0" E ( point C)

58-53-34,0" N 10038'25,0" E (point D)"

In the same Annex, under Sweden, the four given points are replaced by the following seven points:

"57-44-43,0" N 11007'04,0" E

57049'00,6" N 11002'55,6" E

58008'00,1" N 10032'32,8" E

58015'41,2" N 10001'48,1" E (point A)

58030'41,2" N 10008'46,9" E (point B)

58045'41,3" N 10035'40,0" E (point C)

58053'34,0" N 10038'25,0" E(point D)"

In the same Annex, the following is added:

"In the delimitation between Denmark, Norway and Sweden, boundary-lines between the co-ordinate points follow the great circle-bows west and north of the three-point

between the countries and, respectively, the geodetic lines south and east of this point. In the delimitation between Norway and Sweden, however, the boundary-line

between points C and D is drawn as straight lines (compass-lines) and between points A,B and C as great circle-bows.

All geographical co-ordinate refer to the international ellipsoid (European date, 1st version 1950)."

Point 3 in the same Annex, concerning the zone of joint responsibility of Denmark and Sweden, is deleted.

Article 2

The present agreement enters into force thirty days after the day upon which all Contracting Parties have notified the Swedish Ministry for Foreign Affairs that the agreement has been accepted.

The Swedish Ministry for Foreign Affairs notifies the other Contracting Parties of the receipt of these notifications and of the date of entry into force of the agreement.

Article 3

After the entry into force of the present agreement, the provisions concerning the de-limitation between Denmark, Norway and Sweden in the Annex to the Agreement for Co-operation in Dealing with Pollution of the North Sea by Oil and other Harmful Substances, done at Bonn on 13th September 1983, shall cease to be in force between the Parties to the present agreement.

Article 4

The original of this agreement shall be deposited with the Swedish Ministry for Foreign Affairs, which shall send certified copies thereof to the other Contracting Parties.

Article 5

The depositary of the Agreement for Co-operation in Dealing with Pollution of the North Sea by Oil and Other Harmful Substances, done at Bonn on 13th of September 1983 shall, in accordance with its Article 17, point 2, be notified of the present Agreement by the Swedish Ministry for Foreign Affairs when the agreement has entered into force.
