The Department of Commerce of the United States of America and the Secretariat of Trade and Industrial Development of the United Mexican States:
ACKNOWLEDGING that bilateral environmental commercial cooperation is a priority for both countries;
RECOGNIZING their previous excellent cooperation in the promotion of commercial relations and bilateral trade in the environmental sector;
NOTING that trade and investment by the private sector plays an essential role in environmental protection; and
BUILDING on the work between the Government of the United States of America and the Government of the United Mexican States under the auspices of the U.S.-Mexico Binational Commission and other bilateral fora:
Hereby express their intention to further cooperate as follows:
I. Improve the dissemination of appropriate environmental and commercial information in both markets to foster bilateral trade and investment in the environmental sector.
II. Facilitate the planning and implementation of commercial activities, such as training seminars, trade exhibitions, and trade missions, designed to promote business and bilateral trade in the environmental sector in the United States of America and the United Mexican States.
The activities under this Memorandum of Intent are made contingent upon the availability of funds, and are to be conducted in accordance with the appropriate laws and regulations of the United States of America and the United Mexican States.
