At its 84th Session (November 1983), the FAO Council also approved a second set of amendments to introduce mandatory contributions by Contracting Governments in order to finance certain activities of the Commission. These amendments which entail new obligations came into force on the thirtieth day after acceptance by two-thirds of the Contracting Governments, i.e. on 4 September 2009, but only with respect to the Contracting Governments that have actually accepted these amendments.
