The two Contracting Parties, desiring to protect the riparian areas of Lake Lugano from flooding and to better control the level of the lake, agree hereby to proceed with the regulation of Lake Lugano, which shall comprise: a) correction of the Lavena narrows; b) the control dam at La Rocchetta; c) correct ion of the Tresa between Ponte-Tresa and Madonnone. Each of the two Parties shall therefore accord the right to expropriate the land concerned, if it deems it necessary for the execution, operation and maintenance of the works. Article VI of the Convention establishes the Mixed Supervisory Commission, in charge of the monitoring on the execution and maintenance of the works.
