| Art.2.1 | 1. The scope of application of this Convention comprises the maritime areas of the Northeast Pacific, defined in conformity with the United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea. |

No provision of this Convention or its protocols shall be considered as affecting the rights, present or future claims or legal opinions of any Contracting Party relating to the boundaries of its maritime areas or maritime jurisdiction. No Party shall be entitled to call upon the norms and conduct agreed as generating rights or precedents. |
